Amazon Fashion Delivers an AR-Powered Experience with Snapchat's Shopping Lenses

Amazon Fashion offers Snapchat users the opportunity to take advantage of augmented reality shopping lenses to virtually try out the eyewear brands and styles available in its store. In addition, users can buy the glasses they have tried and share them on the platform. This collaboration is the first virtual trial experience between Amazon and Snapchat.

In August, Snapchat added the ability to connect AR lenses to online product catalogs. Ray-Bans, Maui Jims, Oakley's, Persol, and other brands are preparing to offer shopping lenses to Snapchat users so that their products can be visually tested.

 

The ability to virtually try on garments and accessories is growing by the day. Mobile shopping is just one of the ways that companies use to sell their products. Amazon Fashion shoppers ordered more than one billion fashion products on their mobile devices last year.

 

Snapchat claims that these retail experiences on its platform lead to increased sales. In fact, it was shown that 80% of shoppers made the purchase due of the feeling of confidence they gained from using AR lenses. In another statement, Snapchat reported that more than five billion people used shopping lenses for beauty, shoes, and watches last year.

 

Amazon's virtual experiment in the eyewear category is not the company's first attempt into AR-powered product experience. Earlier this year, the company also launched a virtual shoe testing.
