Advertising agency DDB has released an ad campaign called “Mean to be classic”, which aims to make Mcdonalds a classic. The campaign consists of a series of works inspired by the works of Edouard Manet and Pierre Auguste Renoir. The yellow letter M, called the golden arches, and Mcdonald's product images are placed on classic impressionist paintings.
In the designs, the campaign text "Meant to be classic" is found among the images. The original male figure in Edouard Manet's painting "At the Conservatory", which was preferred in the campaign, is holding a cigar in his hand.In the painting that was recreated for the advertising campaign, the male figure is holding a McDonald's beverage can.
