Instagram Adds Auto-generated Captions to Feed Videos in 17 Different Languages

Instagram recently announced that it is introducing the automatic subtitle feature for videos on the main page. Previously, there was a subtitle feature, but the content producer had to add it manually. Now, users can enable the automatic caption feature for any video post they come across on Instagram.

Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, explained that the captioning feature is a convenience for the deaf and hearing impaired people, and that captions can be turned on or off.

Automatic subtitle support is initially available in 17 languages, including Turkish, English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic, Vietnamese, Italian, Russian, German, Thai, Urdu, Malay, Hindi, Indonesian, Tagalog and Japanese. The company recently stated that it will support more languages and that the quality will improve day by day as more people use the feature.

You can enable the automatic caption feature by going to Settings > Account > Captions in the Instagram app. The captions appear in the language you use on Instagram.
