Metaverse Move of Airlines
Metaverse Move of Airlines
This time, airlines have joined the ever-expanding Metaverse universe. Emirates Airlines announced last week that they will be entering the world of NFT. Similarly, Qatar Airways announced a project where they are working on virtual flight attendants with VR experience and NFT tickets. Pegasus Airlines from Turkey announced that it is the first company to enter the metaverse.
Emirates Airline and its Chief Executive Officer, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, said, "Dubai and the UAE are breaking new ground in the digital economy by having a vision supported by virtual environments." More than five years ago, the airline pioneered this area by offering customers a preview of the flight cabin and seats on emirates.com and in the phone app using VR technology. With tens of millions of dollars invested, the airline now promises its customers and employees a very different experience.
As for Turkey, Pegasus Airlines has opened a section in the Metaverse universe called PegasusPort. The company's CEO, Gueliz Oeztuerk, commented, "The pandemic period has not only enhanced the digital experiences of our guests and employees, but also enabled the beginning of a whole new era. As a company able to keep up and adapt to the dizzying pace of technological development, we have broken new ground in our country's aviation industry and taken our place in the Metaverse universe. With PegasusPort, we will have new surprises in shop for our visitors in this new universe." Customers who visit PegasusPort will also have a chance to win international airline tickets.
