New Features and Tips for Safer Internet Day

February 8 marks Safer Internet Day, which is celebrated in over 200 countries to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for everyone. It's obvious that consumers really do care how brands handle their personal information and they trust brands that respect their personal information. Enhanced control and security options are important focus elements for social apps and these applications such as Twitter, Facebook and TikTok added new features and updated guidelines for a safer internet day.

To mark Safer Internet Day, Twitter pulled together a guide to Twitter’s safety tools so people can feel safer when participating in the conversation, manage their digital footprint, and control their experience on the platform.

On the other side, Messenger has published a new decision tree graphic designed to help users understand their options when engaging in potentially unsafe conversations. Furthermore, Messenger also offers end-to-end encrypted (E2EE) group chats and calls to make chats more secure.

TikTok announced some new updates to its Community Guidelines, in order to improve its approach to user safety and rising concerns stemming from TikTok clips. The updates come after a variety of reports of significant injuries as a result of TikTok challenges, along with advice from experts around exposure to certain types of material, and how it can impact TikTok’s overwhelmingly young audience.
