Profile Card: Instagram's New Feature
Instagram, the social media platform owned by Meta, is launching a new feature called profile card. The profile card resembles a digital business card to make it easier for users to share their Instagram accounts with others.
The two-sided digital card features information such as biography, profile picture, link, or music on the profile on one side and a QR code linking to the profile on the other. The background of the profile card can also be personalized with a selected image.
Instagram says that the new feature, which it sees as an easier way to make friends and meet new people, was launched in response to Generation Z, who use their Instagram profiles as a resume. Pointing to a survey revealing that more than half of Generation Z wants to become influencers, the platform says that users can quickly and easily share their profile cards with brands for potential collaborations.
