Snapchat’s AR Power at Vogue World Fashion Week
Snap has teamed up with the prestigious fashion publisher, Vogue, on a number of custom-built augmented reality experiences related to the Vogue World event to be held on 12 September. Vogue is celebrating its 130th year during New York Fashion Week.
Snapchatters will be able to walk the Vogue runway from home through a lens available on Vogue’s Snapchat profile, which will bring daylight and moonlight reflections to users’ faces and put them on their own fashion shows, and showcase their personal style. Those lenses were produced by Arcadia, Snap’s in-house branded AR creative studio.
There are three lenses made for Vogue by Snap. The Skywalk lenses—which incorporate Snap AR technology, including sky segmentation and surface tracking—will change the setting of the show via AR, synchronized with the timing of overall production. Participants using the lenses will see flowers blooming from the ground as models walk down the runway, and those flowers will float in the sky as a shining moon appears.
