Usernames will be auctioned
Elon Musk announced in a tweet in December that inactive accounts on the platform will be deleted and 1.5 billion usernames will be made available.
According to the New York Times, the auction of usernames has been on the Twitter team's schedule since December. However, no date has been set for the implementation of this application.
Twitter's topic-specific policy prohibits username trading. Despite this prohibition, users have been experimenting with various methods for years in order to get the usernames they want. Previously, a hacker who saw this as a business opportunity came to the fore. After hacking Twitter and collecting high-profile usernames, a teenager was arrested in 2020 in an attempt to sell his account names.
The web will soon feature a "For You" interface.
The "For You" interface, which was also built following Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter and made available on iOS devices, is now available on web browsers.
The 'For You' interface replaced the'sparkle' symbol, which previously allowed users to navigate between algorithmically created and reverse chronological feeds on the platform. This interface, which is already accessible on iOS devices, will be the default view once the upgraded web browser is available. The new UI will be accessible on Android devices "soon," according to the platform.
There are also changes in the timeline
The "For You" interface, of course, had an impact on the timeframe. Twitter, which also altered the timeline, will shortly notify users of this change.
With this change, users who press the star in the upper left part of the timeline will be provided with two distinct options: "For You" and "Latest." Users will be able to select material by selecting one of these options. The "For You" option will provide suggested tweets for users, while the "Latest" option will display the most recent posts from users' accounts.
View counts will be made public
The amount of tweet views, which are only controlled by users and may be learned using Twitter Analytics, is now public. Negative user comments criticizing the new function were also not delayed, but there has been no notice from Twitter that they can back down.
Elon Musk also expressed his thoughts on Twitter, reminding everyone that the amount of video views is public and that the view count of tweets should be public as well.
The character limit update has also arrived
Elon Musk said that Twitter's character limit will be increased from 280 to 4,000 characters.
This announcement, however, only applies to Twitter Blue users, a premium membership service established by the business in November. Because it has been reported that the 280 character restriction would be increased to 4 thousand characters solely for Twitter Blue users.
Furthermore, it has been announced that the membership price for Twitter Blue is $8 per month for web users and $11 per month for iOS users. Furthermore, Twitter Blue customers will receive new updates; it will prioritize tweet editing, uploading lengthier videos in 1080p resolution, reader mode, and experiencing new features such as checkmark before standard users.
