Web 3.0 in Brands: Pepsi and Nestlé

Numerous brands have built and continue to develop Web3-focused marketing strategies. The transformations of Pepsi and Nestlé, two brands that followed this trend and proceeded on their paths, are extremely relevant.

Pepsi Mic Drop NFT Collection

PepsiCo, one of the world's leading brands, houses 23 brands under its umbrella, each of which generates more than $1 billion in revenue annually. This huge company released the Pepsi Mic Drop NFT Collection in December 2021 and gave it away for free. The collection included 1,893 NFTs that referenced the year Pepsi was founded.

The products in the collection demonstrated Pepsi's connection with music. The collection combined microphone visuals with different Pepsi flavors, such as classic Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Wild Cherry, and Crystal Pepsi.

While 1,843 NFTs were printed during the event, 50 NFTs were reserved for future projects. During the time the collection was released, the disadvantages of using blockchain were a hot topic. Because of this, the company set up a special carbon balancing program to make sure that the launch would leave no net carbon footprint.

Pepsi & TIMELAND collaboration

Pepsi, aiming at China's young generation, brought its 5-year concept store into the metaverse last July, as well as collaborating with TIMELAND to hold its first 3D virtual concert.

The new Pepsi Live House event welcomed young users to participate in collaborative creation, encouraging them to make promotional music via the mobile website.

TRIX® Breakfast Cereal

Nestle's breakfast cereal brand, TRIX® Breakfast Cereal, is now available in the Middle East and North Africa. In March 2022, the company will release its first NFT collection to celebrate this. The NFTs, including a snow globe with the Burj Khalifa skyscraper and the TRIX® mascot, were sold from March 18 to May 13, and the profits were given to a non-profit organization.

Nestle's first Web3-focused effort is not limited to this. The company has posted a job opening on LinkedIn for a Web3 technology leader (Tech Lead - Web3).In this role, candidates will explore and verify Web3-related applications within Nestlé and recommend their use.

In addition to this, the company is also focusing on research and development in the fields of Web3 and virtual reality. In this context, the company has started to create product prototypes on the metaverse and Web3 using its developed tools. While the formation and testing of physical prototypes retain their importance, virtual reality's features help them quickly determine whether they can achieve their goals with a new product.
