American digital artist and graphic designer Michael Joseph Winkelman, known as Beeple, made a significant impact in the digital art world by selling his NFT artwork titled "Everydays: the First 5000 Days" for 69 million dollars. Beeple is recognized for his ability to express political and social commentary in a humorous manner through his artwork. Under his professional alias Beeple, Michael Joseph Winkelman began selling NFTs in February 2021.

In his works, Winkelman often incorporates elements of popular culture to offer a critical perspective on political and social issues. His first NFT artwork, "Crossroad," transformed into two different animations depending on the outcome of the 2020 US presidential election. This particular NFT was initially sold for 66,666,000 dollars and later resold for 6.7 million dollars in February 2021. The NFT artwork "Everydays: the First 5000 Days" was auctioned at Christie's Auction House on February 25, 2021, and sold for 69.4 million dollars on March 11, 2021.
