What's new on Instagram this month

This month has been pretty tumultuous for Instagram. The TikTok-like flow announced last month was removed with Instagram CEO Mosseri's statement at the beginning of the month, following heavy criticism from users, the campaign involving celebrities, and tens of thousands of signatures collected.

The innovations do not stop there. Read the rest of the article about real-time updates, the new map feature, full-screen photos, and more.

First, late last month, President Mosseri said in a statement that Instagram would be moving to a new feed design. The feature, which was in the testing phase, was compared to TikTok by many users and sparked reactions. The "Make Instagram, Instagram Again" campaign launched on Instagram gathered tens of thousands of signatures and the campaign image was shared by many other well-known people, notably Kyle Jenner and Kim Kardashian.

Instagram had to take a step back in response. Mosseri said in a statement on his Instagram account that this new design will be removed, but another feature will be activated very soon: Photos will now be displayed in full-screen mode at 9:16.

Another interesting new feature is Meta's announcement that it will include Facebook Reels stats in Creator Studio, which includes special insights for content producers. This will allow content producers to measure the performance of Facebook Reals. As part of the new feature, content producers will have access to view, playback and interaction data. This can trigger the production of Facebook Reals with higher traffic.

On the other hand, according to a story shared by Mark Zuckerberg, Instagram has focused on making it easier to find nearby businesses with its new map feature. The map is a searchable map that lets you discover popular local businesses near you. The map shows you a list of places near you and lets you see posts about a specific location or just certain types of stores.

Meta also announced that the Stars program will be coming to Instagram as part of new features announced this month. Stars will help fans financially support content creators with a badge-like system we have seen on YouTube and Instagram. Meta has already rolled out the feature to top Facebook Reels creators, and now it's rolling it out to all creators. The company is also introducing new mobile options for getting into Stars and allowing Creators to track their Stars earnings.

The final new feature we will talk about is cross-sharing, which allows you to share the Reels you uploaded to Instagram on Facebook as well. This way, content producers can benefit from Facebook and Instagram's revenue programs at the same time. Still, this new feature could be an important step in increasing the amount of content shared on Facebook. Facebook, where Generation Z almost never makes a move, plans to attract the attention of the young target group with its Reels content.
