Digital Migration Started in Türkiye: New Address BlueSky
Political developments and allegations of social media censorship in Türkiye are rapidly changing digital user habits. Following the arrest of Istanbul mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, X (formerly Twitter) restricted dozens of opposition accounts and posts on the grounds of national security. This has prompted users to turn to alternative outlets - and a new platform is emerging: BlueSky.
Developed under the leadership of Jack Dorsey, BlueSky stands out with its decentralized structure, algorithm transparency, and user-oriented content control. In Türkiye, thousands of people joined the platform every day between April 4-7. Names such as Cem Yılmaz and Farah Zeynep Abdullah also announced the platform change, making the impact of digital migration more visible.
BlueSky is not only a social media alternative but also a response to users' demands for freedom of expression and digital independence. Although there is no official data for Türkiye, the increase in Turkish content producers and agenda topics may herald a new era of social media.
