Instagram, the social media platform under the roof of Meta, announced its new video creation application, Edits. Edits, which draws attention as a move for content producers, is a competitor to TikTok's CapCut application. Announced by Instagram on the same day that TikTok and CapCut were banned in the United States, the platform's launch date in the App Store is March 13.

Meta's move is seen as part of its strategy to capitalize on the gaps created by competing apps. The company took a similar approach by launching Instagram Reels shortly after TikTok was banned in India in 2020.
