Komili Carries the Legacy of the Olive Tree to Future Generations
Through its “Passing on the Knowledge in Our Roots to the Future” project, which has been ongoing for three years, Komili is focused on passing on the cultural and natural heritage of the olive tree in Anatolia to new generations. The project aims to raise awareness about nature, natural resources, culture, and sustainability through the olive tree.
Since the project began in 2023, it has reached 120 schools across 15 provinces. While 13 different educational materials were provided to tens of thousands of students from preschool through high school, Olive Tree Student Clubs were established in 90 schools. With the educational content uploaded to EBA, the materials were also made available to students and teachers throughout Turkey.
The project’s new film, meanwhile, tells the story through the eyes of different generations. Beginning with the question, “What lies at the roots of this tree?” the film explores the culture, labor, and hope carried from the olive tree’s millennia-old past to the present, while drawing attention to the legacy that will be passed on to future generations.
