Midjourney Announces AI Model for Video Creation
Midjourney introduced its first AI video model, “V1,” moving from image production to video production. Users can now create 5-second animations with static images they upload to the platform or artwork they create on Midjourney.
After an initial 5-second clip, the videos can be extended four times, totaling up to 21 seconds. Users can select the automatic “random motion” setting or use manual mode to define detailed camera and object movements. This version, which lacks audio support, is notable for its visual quality and fictional diversity.
The subscription model starts with a $10/month “Basic” plan, and video production requires about 8 times more processing power than image production. Company founder David Holz describes this step as a foundation on the road to real-time open-world simulations. With this development, Midjourney enters intense competition with technology giants such as OpenAI, Google, and Meta in the video field.
