Nestlé Is Developing Products Specifically for GLP-1 Users
Nestlé is leveraging artificial intelligence to develop products that address new consumer needs arising from the growing popularity of GLP-1-class weight-loss medications. In response to concerns that medications such as Ozempic, Wegovy, and similar drugs may reduce packaged food consumption, the company is focusing on needs associated with rapid weight loss.
Key areas in these new product initiatives include muscle mass preservation, protein support, skin, hair, and nail health, as well as post-treatment appetite control. Nestlé is conducting research on high-protein beverages and collagen-containing products, as well as various nutritional combinations.
It is reported that the company’s internal artificial intelligence platform, Food Genie, used in its R&D processes, has a database of approximately 120,000 recipes. The AI is utilized at various stages, from the analysis of clinical studies to the development of product formulas.
