Twitter Expands Test of Downvotes on Tweet Replies
Twitter has been trying the downvote feature for tweet replies. After the trial period, the company took action through Twitter Support to share this feature with all its users. Then, Twitter has announced that they are expanding its test of downvotes on tweet replies, with more users on both iOS and Android set to see the new down arrow on tweet responses, providing another way to signal your thoughts on each comment. The feature will only be available to a limited number of web users at first. Later, iOS and Android users will also be able to try this feature.
According to a post by Twitter on this subject, users can downvote what they find offensive and irrelevant, contents they do not want to see, and comments that they find negative and unnecessary. We can also say that this feature replaces marking or reporting content for moderation.
Twitter has been implementing many innovative features on the platform for the past years. The downvote feature can also be used to reduce content visibility, apart from negative feedback from users. We can think of this as “spamming” an account. Thanks to the removal of unwanted comments, users will have a more personalized Twitter experience.
